I spoke with Cynthia Canty from Michigan Radio’s Stateside program about what happens to your social media and email accounts after you die.
There are cases making there way through the courts about whether loved ones can access the deceased’s email accounts. Think about all of the bills and other important information that goes to your email address. Wouldn’t you want someone—a very discrete someone—to be able to access that information in an emergency. You’d think power of attorney would be enough, but to date, there are no laws around this issue.
Have a listen to the interview to find out what happens to your social media accounts.
